Cisna Inducted into RMAC Hall of Fame

COLORADO SPRINGS – July 11, 2016 – Former Fort Lewis College men's soccer standout Luc Cisna was inducted into the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Hall of Fame Friday evening at the Colorado Springs Marriott.  Cisna is the first ever soccer student-athlete to be inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame.

"I'm so honored to be here and have so many of my friends and family, which is a greater honor than the recognition itself," said Cisna during his induction speech.

Cisna was part of the 2016 RMAC Hall of Fame class that included Ike Armstrong (University of Utah), Kim (Bugg) Jackson (Adams State University), Tony DuCros (Regis University), Jack Hancock (Colorado School of Mines), Jill McCaslin Timmons (University of Nebraska-Kearney), and the 1982 and 1983 Colorado Mesa University football teams.

"We are honored and humbled to have Luc as a representative of Fort Lewis soccer as the first soccer player to be inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame," said FLC men's soccer head coach David Oberholtzer.  "Luc played an integral role in laying the foundation for our program and his impact is still felt today.  His accomplishments both on and off the field have set the bar high for all of our current and future student-athletes."

Cisna was one of the greatest defenders to play for Fort Lewis College. He played for the Skyhawks during 1995-99 while sitting out the 1996 season due to an injury. His career-high records as a defender include 17 points, seven goals, three assists and 76 games played.

Cisna was a two-time All-American, two-time All-Region performer and Academic All-American, two-time team captain and an impeccable four-time Academic All-Conference performer for the Skyhawks. He led Fort Lewis to four RMAC Championships and the NCAA national title game in 1999. Cisna was chosen to play in the 2000 Umbro Bowl Selection game, which featured top collegiate players from all NCAA and NAIA divisions. He was named 1999-2000 Fort Lewis Male Athlete of the Year.

After leaving Fort Lewis, Cisna continued his career in the professional leagues playing for several different teams. In 2009, he was named to the RMAC Men's Soccer All-Century Team and was inducted into the Fort Lewis Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1999 team that advanced to the NCAA Championship game.

Cisna is the third person from Fort Lewis College to be inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame.  He joins Troy Bledsoe (Class of 2004) and Carol "Peppy" Seale (Class of 2006).

Today, Cisna serves as the Associate Director of HR/OD at Colorado State University-Global Campus in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
