Box Score CANYON, Texas – March 10, 2018 – The No. 4 seed Fort Lewis College men's basketball team dropped a 78-62 decision to No. 5 seed Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday night in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Division South Central Region Tournament, hosted by West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.
DJ Miles hit a three-point shot at 16:02 in the first half to give the Skyhawks their largest lead of the game, 10-3.
The Lions would answer and go on a 13-4 run to take their first lead of the game, 16-14, with 12:24 left in the first half, and would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game.
Fort Lewis was led by
Daniel Hernandez who came off the bench to net 17 points after making 6-of-8 field goals and all five free throw attempts.
Marquel Beasley added 14 points, two blocks and nine rebounds.
Rasmus Bach chipped in seven points on 2-of-7 field goals. Bach closes his career as the second leading scorer in program history with 1,841 points, second behind DeAndre Lansdowne (1,861).
FLC hit 46.8 percent of their field goals, 22-of-47, and 70 percent from the charity stripe, 14-of-20. Fort Lewis attempted 10 more free throws than the Lions, who finished making 6-of-10 from the line.
The 16-point loss is the largest setback this season for the Skyhawks, and the 62-point output is the second lowest.
Fort Lewis ends the season with a 24-7 overall record.
