Fort Lewis College Athletics

Ruby Nez, who was the star player and leader of the Fort Lewis "Kittyhawks" basketball team in 1967-68, was one of the key figures behind Fort Lewis College establishing a varsity athletic program for women the next year. Her efforts helped pave the way for future Fort Lewis College women's athletes-including fellow 1998 Hall of Fame inductees Kimball-Jones, Knight-Maloney and Palmer-to achieve success.
