The 1969 golfers became the first team in the four-year era of Fort Lewis College to capture a league championship by winning the six-team RMAC championship, which featured schools from the league's Mountains and Plains divisions.

This group of golfers, coached by Don Whalen, included RMAC medallist John Fortune, plus Steve Basinger, George Greenwald, Steve Johnstone, Gordon Pracko and Jim Wood.

The squad became the first FLC golf team to break a team score of 290 — a feat that has not been accomplished since.
