November 1, 2009. ANAHEIM, Calif. - Senior guard Allison Rosel recorded a double-double as she scored a game-high tying 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Fort Lewis College to an 84-81 victory over Southern Indiana and the Disney West Coast Tip-Off Classic championship Sunday at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Joining Rosel in double figures for the Skyhawks (3-0) were Laura Haugen (21 points), Katie Mackey (17 points) and Abby Jackson (12).
Amie Newhart and Rinesha Soaper paced Southern Indiana (1-2) with 20 points apiece while Anaris Sickles added 10 points. Ashton Mertens scored six points and collected a game-high 14 rebounds for the Eagles.
Fort Lewis College, which trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half, used a 6-0 run late in the opening 20 minutes to cut the deficit to 46-42 at the half.
The Skyhawks took their first lead of the second half with 14:33 remaining on a 3-pointer by Jackson. The second half saw seven ties and three lead changes.
Fort Lewis College took the lead for good with 3:04 remaining on a 3-pointer by Haugen and Jackson added a 3-pointer on the Skyhawks' next possession for a 79-73.
