September 15, 2009. La Veta, CO. - The Fort Lewis Men's Golf team started their 2009 season off the right way. The Skyhawks swung their way in to 4th Place out of 14 teams this past week in the three day Wayland Baptist Peaks Classic in La Veta, CO. Fort Lewis was close behind host school Wayland Baptist, Grand View College and RMAC powerhouse UC-Colorado Springs, finsihing with a team total of 885.
The Skyhawks were in 3rd place atop UCCS after the second day by two strokes, then finished with a 298 on the last day. Two Skyhawk golfers placed in the top 20. In 17th place with a three round score of 221 (+5) was Michael Adams. The other Skyhawk golfer to place was Doug Mankse who finished 2nd overall individually with a score of 214 (-2) and only two strokes behind the individual champion.
Fort Lewis's next tournament will be this weekend at the RMAC Fall Tournament which will take place in Trinidad, CO. For more information and results from the Peaks Classic, click on the following link.
