Rosel Named RMAC POW for 2nd Time, Lansdowne's 1st

Skyhawks Earn RMAC Player of the Week Honors

February 22, 2010.  Colorado Springs, CO. -  The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) has announced the Week 16 RMAC/Baden Players of the Week for men's and women's basketball. For the first time this season, both men and women players from Fort Lewis were selected as West Division Players of the Week. Allison Rosel was voted POW for the 2nd time this season, the first time being in week two. On the men's side DeAndre Lansdowne was voted POW for the first time this season. FLC has had only two other players be selected RMAC POW. David Kanyinda was selected five weeks prior and Katie Mackey two weeks prior.

Allison Rosel:  Fort Lewis Senior, Center, 6-0 Colorado Springs, Colo./Doherty HS - Rosel, who leads the team in points per game, rebounds per game and field goal percentage this year, averaged 18 points and seven rebounds in two home wins against Western State and Mesa State. She posted 16 points, two steals, an assist and eight rebounds against WSC, before totaling 20 points, three steals, two assists and six rebounds against MSC. She has led the team in points in 11 games this year.

With the two wins this past weekend, the #6 Skyhawks claimed their third consecutive RMAC regular season title and clinched a first round home game in the RMAC Tournament. The Hawks' will finish the regular season against Adams State tomorrow night in Alamosa at 6pm and Western New Mexico on Saturday at 5:30pm in Durango. DeAndre Lansdowne:  Fort Lewis Junior, Guard, 6-3 Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia HS - Lansdowne averaged 25 points, seven rebounds, four assists, 2.5 steals and four blocked shots in two home wins over Western State and No. 15 Mesa State. On Friday against the Mountaineers, he registered 27 points on 11 of 18 field goal shooting and 5 of 8 free throw shooting. He added eight caroms, three blocked shots, two steals, and two assists in the 14-point win. The next night, he poured in 23 points to go with his six rebounds, six assists, three steals and blocked shot. He made 21 of 38 field goals (.552) and 8 of 13 free throws (.615). Lansdowne, who has scored in double digits in every game this season, has been the high scorer in 17 of 25, and he leads the team in points, steals and minutes played. He also ranks in the top five in the league in points.

The Skyhawks men's team is coming off of two impressive home game victories, one being against the #15 ranked Mesa State Mavericks and the other against a scrappy Western State squad. With the two wins the Hawks' stand alone at second place in the west division.  The men will finish out the regular season against Adams State tomorrow night at 8pm and on Saturday in Durango against Western New Mexico at 7:30pm. If the Skyhawks can win out they will clinch a first round home game in the RMAC Tournament.
