Men's Soccer Signs Foreign Recruit

April 27, 2010. Durango, CO- Fort Lewis College is proud to announce their latest signing Johannes Sander from Erwitte in Germany. Johannes will become the third German player to join the Skyhawks ranks in recent years.

Skyhawk head coach Oige Kennedy believes Johannes is a player that will really make a difference to the 2009 defending national champions, “Johannes is a 6'4 left footed defender that comes from a very strong amateur league in Westfalengia Germany. I had the pleasure to watch him over in Germany in March and he displayed a lot of the talents needed to come to our program. He is super in the air, has a great left foot, and has the aggressive edge to his game that all defenders need to be successful. I am really excited to be adding such a wonderful talent to help us defend our national title in 2010.”

Sander who turned down several division one soccer opportunities to become a Skyhawk is expected to make an immediate impact in the 2010 season. He will join his fellow countrymen Fabian Kling and Dimosthenis Kyrmanidis in the multi-national Fort Lewis team.

The Skyhawk soccer family is set to grow with Coach Kennedy promising a minimum of two more signings for 2010, go Skyhawks!
