Women's soccer climbs to No. 14 in national rankings

Loss to Mines drops men's soccer to No. 16 in national polls

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team is ranked 14th in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com NCAA Division II national rankings this week thanks to their 1-0 victories over St. Cloud St. and Augustana at last weekend's Dirks Women's Soccer Classic.

The Skyhawks (2-0-0 overall) are also ranked No. 2 in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Central Region rankings, behind Metro St. (1-0-0 overall).

Fort Lewis was unranked in the preseason national poll.

“Realistically, we try not to read into the national rankings too much,” said fourth year head women's soccer coach Damian Clarke. “I think it gives the girls a good feeling going into a game against No. 4 in West Texas (1-0-0).”

The FLC women play at West Texas A&M at 6 p.m. (MST) Friday at The Pitch and at Eastern New Mexico at 11 a.m. Sunday at the ENMU Soccer Field.

Fort Lewis College's defending NCAA Division II national champion men's soccer team fell from No. 1 to No. 16 in the latest NSCAA/HendrickCars.com NCAA Division II national rankings after splitting its games against nationally-ranked competition last weekend in Golden.

The Skyhawks lost to Colorado Mines 1-0 on Friday, which caused the Orediggers (1-0-0) to jump from No. 18 to No. 3 in the national polls. FLC beat West Texas A&M 4-1 on Sunday, dropping the Buffaloes (1-1-0) from 11th to 24th.

The FLC men's team fell to No. 2 in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com NCAA Division II Central Region rankings.
