The Jan Wilson Hetzler Outstanding Senior Female Athlete of the Year award is presented each year to the most outstanding senior female student-athlete(s) at Fort Lewis College. It is named after Jan Wilson-Hetzler, who was the women's tennis coach and exercise science instructor at Fort Lewis College in the mid-1970's. The 2018 fall honoree is senior volleyball setter Kendra Swackenberg.
A senior from Brighton, Colo., Swackenberg spent her entire career with the Skyhawks. The setter amassed 2,184 assists in 95 matches played and 334 total sets. In addition she had 220 kills, 53 service aces, 763 digs and 62 blocks. This season, Swackenberg had a season-high 51 assists against New Mexico Highlands, posted six kills against Regis, had 20 digs versus South Dakota Mines and sent back three blocks against New Mexico Highlands. She's been a regular on the RMAC All-Academic Team, being named to the team the past three seasons. Swackenberg was named RMAC Setter of the Week this past season as well. She was also named to the All-RMAC Honorable Mention Team.
