Aspen Field
Aspen Field, home of the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks softball team, is one of the prettiest ball parks in the country, featuring a scenic backdrop of the La Plata Mountains and views overlooking the city of Durango. It is part of a three-field complex, which underwent renovations in 2017-18 to modernize the press boxes, restrooms, storage areas and the FLC softball locker room.
A new digital scoreboard was installed in right field at the end of the 2018 season. And prior to the start of the 2020 season, a brand new infield tarp was purchased to ensure the maximum amount of outdoor practice time and home games for FLC softball student-athletes.
The facility also hosts the Durango High School ladies' Demon softball team in the fall and recreational league softball during summer months. Aspen Field was dedicated in memory of George A. Fisher, who collapsed on the pitcher's mound and died in July 1985.
