DURANGO, CO - October 12, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls this afternoon. The Skyhawks move to 8-3-3 overall and 3-3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), while the Cowgirls now stand at 6-7-2 overall and 3-3-2 in conference play.
Six overtime shots and a corner kick wasn't enough for the Skyhawks to grab their ninth win of the season. The teams' battle for 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, 110 minutes of which the Skyhawks riffled nearly 30 shots and 13 shots on goal.
Cowgirls goal keeper McKaila Dorman recorded 11 saves, while the team recorded two other saves in the game.
Jamie MacArthur (Albuquerque, NM/New Mexico) led the Skyhawks with seven shots and three shots on goal, while Sara Egbom (Albuquerque, NM/Hope Christian) added another six shots and two on goal.
Skyhawk goalkeeper, Bree Baker (Penrose, CO/Canon City) spotted five shots on goal, while facing just nine totals shots throughout the game. She allowed no goals, but is not credited with a shutout.
The Skyhawks return to action, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. against the defending national champions, Metro State on Dirks Field.
