DURANGO, CO - October 19, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College volleyball needed only three games to down the visiting Mountaineers of Western State tonight in their third-straight victory. The Skyhawks improve to 17-6 overall and 13-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), while the Mountaineers fall to 7-15 overall and 4-10 in conference play.
Tonight's win gives the Skyhawks their 12th in their last 13 matches. In that span of matches, they've dropped only nine games, while sweeping five teams.
Jessica Bailey (Ridgefield, WA/Prairie) led the Skyhawks for her second night in a row with 13 kills and only four errors of 20 attempts (.450 hitting percentage). She finished her week with an amazing .452 hitting percentage on 25-of-48 hitting with six errors.
LeeAnne Greenwade (Concho, AZ/St. John's) and Nicole Schwab (Loveland, CO/Loveland) also recorded double-digit kills with 12 and 11, respectively. Schwab went 11-for-21 with two errors to record a .429 hitting percentage.
Melissa Childs (Vista, CA/Rancho Bueno Vista) tallied 48 assists with no ball handling errors. She had 101 assists this week and not one balling handling error.
Sara Feehan (Berthoud, CO/West Georgia) led the Skyhawks back row with 10 digs.
The Skyhawks have tomorrow night off and return to action in one week when they travel to Pueblo to take on the Thunderwolves at 7:00 p.m.
