Men's Soccer Makes Clean Sweep of Colorado Christian

DURANGO, CO - October 22, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team defeated Colorado Christian University 3-0 this afternoon in a rescheduled match from yesterday afternoon. The Skyhawks improve to 10-5-1 overall and 7-3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), while the Cougars remain winless at 0-15-1 and 0-11-1 in conference play.

The men's team followed in the footsteps of the women's team who defeated the Cougars earlier in the afternoon.

Two first-half goals and two assists from Tom Settle (Portsmouth, Eng./Cams Hill) was all the Skyhawks needed to defeated the hosting Cougars, but they added a second half goal to seal their 11th win of the season.

Senior forward Nick Kirchhof (Centennial, CO/Grandview) scored the Skyhawks' game-winner in the 19th minute off an assist from Keane Hamilton (Missoula, MT/Big Sky). Paul Sanchez (Littleton, CO/Columbine) scored the second goal for the Skyhawks off an assist from Settle.

In the 50th minute, David Barden (South Haven, MI/South Haven) sealed the win with his seventh goal of the season, from Settle once again.

Sean Molony (Centennial, CO/Grandview) saw his first start between the posts for the Skyhawks and recorded the shutout. He made two saves.

The Skyhawks out-shot the Cougars 31-3 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Fort Lewis returns to action Friday at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Colorado Springs to take on the Mountain Lions in their second to last match of the regular season.
