Skyhawks Score Four Unanswered Against Christian

DURANGO, CO - October 22, 2007 - In a rescheduled game from yesterday, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team defeated Colorado Christian 4-1 this morning in a rare Monday morning match in Lakewood, CO. The Skyhawks improve to 9-4-3 overall and 4-4-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while the Cougars fall to 4-12-0 overall and 3-7-0 in conference play.

After going down 1-0 in the first 40 minutes of play, the Skyhawks evened the score at 1-1 prior halftime off a Sara Egbom (Albuquerque, NM/Hope Christian) goal, her 12th of the season. Egbom connected on a corner kick from Kim Sisneros (Albuquerque, NM/Cibola).

For a majority of the second half, the score stayed tied at one a piece, until the Skyhawks knocked in three consecutive goals in the final 20 minutes of play. Egbom scored her 13th in the 77th minute off a Lorin Anderson (Durango, CO/Durango) crossing pass. Egbom netted her 7th game-winner of the season.

Ginny Maddox (Longmont, CO/Niwot) and Kelli Love (Edmond, OK/Edmond North) scored in the 78th and 89th minutes respectivly, both were off assists from freshman Hayley Hollenga (Colorado Springs, CO/Air Academy).

The Skyhawks return to action this Friday at 2:00 p.m. for their second to last regular season contest when they travel to Las Vegas, NM to take on the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls.
