DURANGO, CO - October 31, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team defeated Regis University 3-0 this afternoon at Dirks Field in their quarterfinal contest of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championship Tournament. The Skyhawks (12-4-3 overall) advance to the semifinals in Denver to take on the top seeded Roadrunners of Metro State at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2nd.
Freshman forward, Sara Egbom (Albuquerque, NM/Hope Christian) scored her eighth game-winning goal of the season in the 8th minute off a crossing pass from Ginny Maddox (Longmont, CO/Niwot) who received a pass from Lorin Anderson (Durango, CO/Durango). Both were credited with assists.
The Skyhawks continued to seal the victory with swift movement all over the pitch. Erika Shisler (Durango, CO/Durango) was the beneficiairy as she netted two additional goals in the 38th and 54th minutes to put the game out of reach for the Rangers.
On her first goal, Hayley Hollenga (Colorado Springs, CO/Air Academy) made an acrobatic move to get the ball over the Regis goalkeeper. The ball then was heading for the far post when Shisler put it away.
In the final goal of the afternoon, Shisler once again found her spot at the far post and netted a rebound off the post. Kim Sisneros (Albuquerque, NM/Cibola) took the initial shot and was credited with the assist.
Bree Baker (Penrose, CO/Canon City) made five huge saves to record her seventh shutout of the season.
The Skyhawks will travel to Denver tomorrow afternoon and take on the Roadrunners at 5:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
