Men's Soccer Suffers Fourth Loss of the Season

DURANGO, CO - October 7, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team fell 2-1 in double overtime to West Texas A&M University earlier today in their fourth loss of the season and second this weekend. The Skyhawks fall to 8-4-0 overall, while West Texas A&M improves to 9-1-0 overall.

The Skyhawks tied the game at one in the 52nd minute after allowing a West Texas A&M goal early in the first half. The remainder of regulation and the first overtime were rather uneventful. The Skyhawks rattled off just four shots on goal and 13 shots the entire game, while holding West Texas to six shots on goal and 10 shots.

Three minutes and 39 seconds into the second overtime, West Texas scored the game-winner to give the Skyhawks their second loss of the weekend.

Paul Sanchez (Littleton, CO/Columnbine) scored the Skyhawks' goal, his third of the season, off a pass from Nick Kirchhof (Centennial, CO/Grandview).

The Skyhawks return to action Wednesday, October 10th at 3:30 p.m. when they host Mesa State.
