Women's Soccer Wins Second-Straight RMAC Championship!

Skyhawks Headed to NCAA's

DENVER, CO - November 4, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team defeated CSU-Pueblo 2-0 Sunday afternoon in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championship game in Denver, CO, hosted by Metro State.

For the second-straight year the Skyhawks won the RMAC Championship game, but this year's a little bit different. For the first time in RMAC-history, the winner of the RMAC Women's Soccer Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II playoffs. In the 14-year history of the Fort Lewis College women's soccer program, they've never advanced to the NCAA postseason, marking the 2007 season in the record books.

The Skyhawks improve to 14-4-3 overall this season and currently have a .738 winning percentage, an FLC record.

With two game-winning goals, including the game-winner in the 65th minute on Sunday, Kim Sisneros (Albuquerque, NM/Cibola) was named the RMAC Championship Most Valuable Player. Bree Baker (Penrose, CO/Canon City) was also named to the all-tournament team. She recorded three shutouts and 14 saves in the tournament.

Samantha Scales (Cedar Crest, NM/Manzano), Erika Shisler (Durango, CO/Durango) and Lorin Anderson (Durango, CO/Durango) were also RMAC All-Tournament selections for their performances in the three games.

The NCAA Division II Playoff field will be announced Monday afternoon. A full press release will follow the announcement with the hosting institution and the Skyhawks opponent.
