Volleyball Suffers Loss in First Round of RMAC Tournament

KEARNEY, NE - November 9, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College volleyball team fell 2-3 to Adams State this afternoon in the first round of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Volleyball Championships. The Skyhawks are now 21-7 overall and await the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship selections to be announced Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. (MST) at www.ncaasports.com.

The two teams once again had a marathon match, replicating one from two weeks ago. Instead Adams State was on the winning end this time. The two teams traded games the entire match, with the Grizzlies taking the slight edge in game five.

The RMAC Player of the Year, Nicole Schwab (Loveland, CO/Loveland) led the Skyhawks with 19 kills and four blocks. LeeAnne Greenwade (Concho, AZ/St. John's) led the team with a .355 hitting percentage on 15-of-31 hitting with just four errors.

The predominate story of the afternoon was Adams State's Andrea Tuck who had 26 kills on 61 attempts. She also had five blocks.

Jessica Bailey (Ridgefield, WA/Prairie) added 10 kills for the Skyhawks, while Sara Feehan (Berthoud, CO/West Georgia) grabbed 16 digs to lead the team.

The Skyhawks will find out the morning of Monday, November 12th if they advance to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships for the second-straight season.
