Chadron State No Match for Skyhawks

DURANGO, CO - December 17, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team defeated the visiting Eagles of Chadron State College 77-52 Monday night in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) match up. The Skyhawks have started their season 8-1 for only the second time in the programs 26-year history. They also improve to a conference-best 4-0 in league play. The Eagles fall to 3-6 on the season and 2-2 in the RMAC.

Audrey George (Longmont, CO/Niwot) led the Skyhawks with a career-high 24 points and added six rebounds, six steals and three assists on the night. She went 9-for-10 from the field and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Lauren Redfern (Carbondale, CO/Basalt) and Erin Kerr (Buckeye, AZ/Buckeye Union) both added 11 points in the win. Kerr also grabbed one steal and four assists. Laura Haugen (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre) scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, four assists and four steals with a great all-around performance.

The Skyhawks shot 48.3% from the field and nearly 41% from downtown on 9-for-22. They also scored 23 points off turnovers and 28 points in the paint. They led the entire game and opened the game with a 26-4 run. They held the Eagles to just 15 first-half points and led by 26 at the break.

Fort Lewis led by as many as 28 in the second half and capped an excellent weekend with the 25-point victory.
