DURANGO, CO - September 14, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College volleyball team defeated the Adams State College Grizzlies tonight in their 2007 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) home opener. The Skyhawks improve to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the RMAC, while the Grizzlies fall to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
In front of a rowdy Friday night crowd, the Skyhawks grabbed games one, two and four and they cruised to the victory (30-16, 30-23, 26-30, 30-22).
Nicole Schwab (Loveland, CO/Loveland) led the Skyhawks with 16 kills on 27 attempts (.444 hitting percentage). The senior added six blocks in the win.
Sara Feehan (Berthoud, CO/West Georgia) recorded 11 kills, 17 digs and five blocks for the Skyhawks' best all-around performance. Setter Melissa Childs (Vista, CA/Rancho Bueno Vista) dished out 40 assists in the victory, while Adrianne Dettler (Colorado Springs, CO/Palmer) led the Skyhawks with 27 digs on the night.
The Skyhawks return to action tomorrow night (Saturday, September 15th) at 7:00 p.m. in the Whalen Athletic Center against CSU-Pueblo.
