Skyhawks Set Pace at Sea Level

DURANGO, CO - September 15, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College women's cross country team finished second of nine teams at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego, CA earlier this morning.

This is the Skyhawks second race of the season, but first race at sea level where they finished just 11 behind NAIA nationally ranked #14 Point Loma Nazarene's 43 points.

Mallory Kneller (Durango, CO/Durango) led the lady Skyhawks with a 19:25, placing her in third. Ashley Kelly (Brighton, CO/Brighton) finished second for the Skyhawks with a time of 19:52. Senior Monica Bishop (Scottsdale, CO/Desert Mountain) finished next with a 20:02, while Kery Allen (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) finished 14th overall and fourth for the Skyhawks with a time of 20:34. Sofie Stenstadvold (Basalt, CO/Basalt) ran a 21:11 and finished in 29th place overall.

"Very good showing for the women," said head coach Ken Flint.

The Skyhawks return to action in two weeks when they travel to Boulder, CO for the 2007 Rocky Mountain Shootout.
