Skyhawks Grab Fifth Win

DURANGO, CO - September 21, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team defeated CSU-Pueblo this afternoon in their fifth win of the season. The Skyhawks improve to 5-2-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), while the Thunderwolves fall to 4-5-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the RMAC.

Euan Purcell (Bolton, Eng./Harper Green) gave the Skyhawks the victory in the 86th minute when he scored a header in the left side of the Thunderwolves net. He received the pass from Tom Settle (Portsmith, Eng./Cams Hill).

In his first action of the season, Purcell scored his first goal of his Skyhawks' career just prior to half time in the 44th minute. David Barden (South Haven, MI/South Haven) assisted on that goal.

The Thunderwolves tied the game after halftime with a goal in the 49th minute by Dylan Cook.

The Skyhawks had another chance to score as time ran out in the second half, but an offsides call was made as the Skyhawks passed the ball into an open net.

Fort Lewis returns to action Sunday, September 23rd on Dirks Field at Noon against UC-Colorado Springs.
