Spikers Make A Clean Sweep

DURANGO, CO - September 29, 2007 - For the third night in a row, the Fort Lewis College volleyball team defeated their opponent in just three games. Tonight the Skyhawks made Colorado Mines their latest victims in 30-26, 30-19, 30-22 victories. The Skyhawks improve to 12-5 overall and 8-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), while the Orediggers fall to 4-14 overall and 1-7 in the RMAC.

Besides for slow starts in games one and three, the Skyhawks dominated all aspects of the match. They recorded 61 kills, compared to the Orediggers' 32. As a team, the Skyhawks hit at a .318 kill percentage, while the Orediggers tallied a .085 kill percentage. The match took a short 1-hout and 25 minutes.

Sara Feehan (Berthoud, CO/West Georgia) led the team with 17 kills and four errors on 31 attempts (.419 kill percentage). Fellow seniors, Nicole Schwab (Loveland, CO/Loveland) and LeeAnne Greenwade (Concho, AZ/St. John's) recorded 11 kills a piece, while Schwab added three service aces and two blocks.

Adrianne Dettler (Colorado Springs, CO/Palmer) led the team with 25 digs, while Melissa Childs (Vista, CA/Rancho Bueno Vista) dished out 45 assists.

Cora Vorwald (Durango, CO/Durango) led the team with three total blocks (two solo, one assist) in the win.

Fort Lewis returns home after two weekend on the road, this Friday, October 5th at 7:00 p.m. against Chadron State. The following day, Saturday, October 6th, the Skyhawks take on nationally ranked #22 Nebraska-Kearney at 3:00 p.m.
