DURANGO, CO - September 7, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College volleyball  (5-4, 1-0 RMAC) team defeated host New Mexico Highlands (2-8, 0-1 RMAC) tonight in their 2007 RMAC opener. The Skyhawks won in three games (30-21, 30-21, 30-20) as they swept their third consecutive team.

Sara Feehan (Berthoud, CO/Berthoud) led the Skyhawks with 18 kills on 29 attempts with only 3 errors (.517 hitting percentage). Nicole Schwab (Loveland, CO/Loveland) added a team-high five blocks.

Setter Melissa Childs (Vista, CA/Rancho Bueno Vista) handed out 36 assists, while Feehan and Adrianne Dettler (Colorado Springs, CO/Palmer) both grabbed eight digs. Feehan also tallied five service aces in the win.

The Skyhawks recorded 46 kills and only 13 errors on 96 attempts for an impressive .344 team hitting percentage.

Fort Lewis returns to action tomorrow night against RMAC West preseason #2, Western New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. in Silver City, NM.
