DURANGO, CO - September 7, 2007 - The Fort Lewis College women's soccer (3-0-2) team tied the hosting and RMAC preseason favorites, Metro State Roadrunners (3-1-1) 1-1 this afternoon in a double overtime match in Denver.
Kelly Smith (Chino Valley, AZ/Chino Valley) received the ball from Jessica Otero (Albuquerque, NM/New Mexico) in the 59th minute to tie the game at one.
The Roadrunners and Skyhawks played to a draw after two 10-minute overtime periods.
Skyhawk keeper, Bree Baker (Penrose, CO/Canon City) grabbed nine saves including two in overtime to secure the Skyhawks' draw.
Jenna Oney score the Roadrunners lone goal in the 56th minute.
The Skyhawks were out-shot 22 to 11 and allowed the Roadrunners to have three more corner kicks (10-7).
Fort Lewis returns to action Sunday, September 9th at Noon in another pivotal RMAC match up against Regis. The Skyhawk will remain in Denver for the match on Sunday.
