DURANGO, CO - September 8 ,2007 - The Fort Lewis College football team fell 49-0 in their 2007 season opener against NCAA Division I-AA opponent, Montana. The Skyhawks fall to 0-1 on the season, while the Grizzlies improve to 2-0.
Montana scores 21 points in the first quarter and 14 points in the second quarter to open a 35-0 lead at the half. They added seven points in the third and fourth quarters to conclude the 49-0 victory.
Tom Stoffel (Boulder, CO/Fairview) led the Skyhawks with 26 yards on 6-of-11 throwing. Joel Johnson (Englewood, CO/Cheery Creek) led the Skyhawks rushing attack with 50 yards on 13 carries.
The Grizzlies recorded 512 yards on 79 plays, while the Skyhawks tallied 136 yards on 53 plays.
Brady Haynes (Woodland Park, CO/Woodland Park) led the Skyhawks with 12 tackles including one sack.
The Skyhawks open their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) schedule next Saturday, September 15th at 11 a.m. (MST) when they travel to Nebraska-Kearney.
