Fort Lewis Tops Mesa State in Chilly Windy Conditions

Lorin Anderson plays tough as usual assists on first goal

The Fort Lewis women's soccer team improved to 7-0-0 in conference play on Sunday with the two to nil victory over Mesa State.  This marks the second time this season the Skyhawks beat the Mavericks two to nil as well.

The Skyhawks got off to a fast start when midfielder Sam Smith buried a free ball or jump ball of sorts from the top of the box, with her right foot.  The 3rd minute goal would be the game winner since the Skyhawks shut out the Mavericks.  In the 21st minute the Skyhawks' Michelle Felten ran by the Mavericks defense and crossed up the goalie scoring a far post goal on the breakaway.

The Skyhawks next home game will be on next Sunday against New Mexico Highlands, but the Hawks will take on CSU-Pueblo on Friday at Pueblo.
