The Fort Lewis volleyball team took the court tonight with a purpose and an attitude, beating Metro State in three sets.  The Roadrunners before tonight were previously 6-1 in conference play, until the Skyhawks' victory by way of set 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20.  With the win the Skyhawks move to 13-4 and 8-1 RMAC.
Leading the way offensively for the Hawks were Chelsea Flaming and Jessica Bailey who had 15 and 11 kills respectively.  Defensively the Skyhawks' Iris Frye led the team with nine digs.  Setter Melissa Childs again played a solid match notching 32 set assists.  Childs also spread the ball around nicely with all of the Skyhawks hitters attack attempts being in double figures.
To make the night even better former player Nicole Schwab was honored for being named to the All-Time RMAC volleyball team and it also was parent's night for the Skyhawks.
All and all it was a special night in the Whalen Gymnasium.  The Skyhawks will travel to Nebraska next weekend to take on Nebraska Kearney and Chadron State.  The Hawks will be back at home on October 24th and 25th, October 25th being senior night.  The Skyhawks two seniors Jessica Bailey and Cora Vorwald will be honored.
