The Fort Lewis College Skyhawks lost to New Mexico Highlands despite a strong defensive effort. The Skyhawks missed on two first half field goals that changed the momentum of the first half. Coming out of a 3-0 halftime deficit the Skyhawks marched down the field, and when the drive stalled they kicked a field goal to tie the game.
Mark Meng led a strong Skyhawk defense that allowed only three points through the first three quarters, with 14 tackles 7 solo and 7 assisted. He left the game in the fourth quarter for three plays and the Cowboys took advantage by moving the ball down the field to score the go ahead touchdown.
The Skyhawks will play their final game of the season next week against Western New Mexico.
