Fort Lewis Advance to Finals of RMAC Tournament With 2-0 Win

The Fort Lewis College Skyhawks advanced to the finals of the RMAC tournament Friday with a 2-0 win over CSU-Pueblo.  The Skyhawks will take on rival Metro State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Dirks Field.  This season the Skyhawks and the Roadrunners have met twice, with the Skyhawks winning in Durango 3-2 and the two teams drawing 1-1 in Denver.

The Skyhawks beat the cautious CSU-Pueblo team with two crosses that Euan Purcell netted off headers.  The First came in the 26th minute on a Tom Settle cross which he touched to the far post.  The second came on a Sam Morris free kick which Purcell headed into the bottom right of the net.

The Skyhawks look to win the RMAC tournament for the fourth consecutive year and the ninth time in 13 years.  Colorado Mines and Metro State are the only other teams to win the conference tournament in that time span each winning two.
