Fort Lewis Wins Over Rival Metro in Thrilling 72-70 Game

The Fort Lewis College Skyhawks won a thrilling game over rival Metro State 72-70 on a put back dunk by DeAndre Landsdowne in the waning seconds of the game.  The play was started by a clutch steal by Ryan Yates at half court picked up by Ryan Jameson whose breakaway lay-up was blocked at the last second.  The ball hit off the rim and backboard and was cleaned up by a spectacular two handed dunk by DeAndre Landsdowne.  The Roadrunners had one final three point chance that hit off the back of the rim allowing the Skyhawks to grab their 7th victory of the season improving their record to 7-3 (1-1 RMAC). 

Leading the Skyhawks in Scoring was Landsdowne with 19 points, adding six rebounds.  Kirk Archibeque came up big in the Skyhawk victory notching a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds adding three blocks as well.  Jordan Brooks notched seven points, seven assists and six rebounds.   Yates along with making the key steal added nine points and five rebounds.  The Skyhawks again lost the battle of the benches but improved to 20 bench points in the game led by nine from Yates and eight from Kyl;e Behrens.  The Roadrunners were led by Jesse Wagstaff who scored 20 points followed by Marquise Carrington who scored 11 and narrowly missed the final three pointer that would have given the Roadrunners the victory.

The Skyhawks next week will travel to Nebraska to take on Nebraska-Kearney and Chadron State. The Games will be available on B2 for viewing.
