Fort Lewis College fought off a tough Wesminster team Saturday night to earn their sixth victory of the season. The Skyhawks move to 6-2 with the 86-79 victory.
In a battle mostly fought in the paint the Skyhawks center Kirk Archibeque came up huge tonight scoring 20 points, and grabbing eight rebounds. Archibeque helped seal the victory with a crucial block with 20 seconds left in the game, after the Griffins had cut the Skyhawk lead to four points. Jordan Brooks also played a crucial role in guiding the Skyhawks to victory notching another double-double, with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Brooks also assisted on four Skyhawk baskets.
DeAndre Landsdowne again provided steady scoring posting 18 points on 7-11 shots and had eight rebounds. Ryan Jamison also added 16 points on 2-5 shooting. As a team the Skyhawks shot 28-56 for a field goal percentage of 50 percent. The Skyhawks also knocked down 29-40 free throw attempts.
The Fort Lewis College Skyhawks will be back in action next Friday night when they will take on Regis in their conference season opener, played here at home. The women will play first at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m.
