DURANGO, CO - February 29, 2008 - The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team defeated the visiting Colorado Christian Cougars 73-43 Friday night in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Shootout Quarterfinals. With the win the #12 Skyhawks advance to the RMAC Shootout Semifinals on Friday, March 7th in Pueblo, CO at the State Fair Events Center at 2:00 p.m. against CSU-Pueblo the #4 seed in the RMAC tournament. The Skyhawks improve to 26-2 on the season, while the Cougars fall to 13-18 overall.

The Skyhawks exchanged leads with the Cougars the first 10 minutes of the first half, but then went on a 13-0 run to close the half with a 16 point lead. The Skyhawks shot 56.7% from the floor in the first half, but only 14.3% from downtown. The Cougars shot just 28.6% from the floor and 11.1% from beyond the arc in the first half.

The Skyhawks opened the second period with a 7-0 run to increase their lead to 23. They allowed the Cougars to come as close as 18 and opened a lead as big as 30 at the game's conclusion.

The Skyhawks finished the game connecting on 31-of-59 (52.5%) from the floor and 6-of-9 from the free throw line. They scored 38 points in the paint and held the Cougars to 10 points in the paint.

Allison Rosel (Colorado Springs, CO/Doherty) led the Skyhawks with 16 points on 7-of-10 from the field. She added four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Erin Kerr (Buckeye, AZ/Buckeye Union) and Katie Mackey (Eaton, CO/Eaton) both finished with 12 points. Kerr added 10 assists and cam four rebounds short of a triple double. Laura Haugen (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre) scored 11 points and handed out three assists.

The Skyhawks, who advance to the RMAC Shootout Semifinals, play CSU-Pueblo at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7th. The game will be in the State Fair Events Center in Pueblo.
