LAS VEGAS, NM - April 27, 2008 - The Fort Lewis College softball team dropped two games Sunday afternoon to the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls by scores of 10-2 and 7-3. The Skyhawks fall to 24-23-1 on the season and 20-16-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and drop out of first place in the RMAC West Division.

Despite losing the Skyhawks earn the fifth seed in the RMAC Softball Championship tournament which will be hosted next weekend (May 1-3) by the #1 seed Colorado School of Mines in Golden. The Skyhawks will take on the Mesa State Mavericks at 9 a.m. on Thursday in their opening game of the double-elimination tournament. If they win they'll advance to play Friday at 9 a.m. and if they lose they'll play again on Thursday at 2 p.m. For a full tournament bracket visit www.rmacsports.org.
