With an super 89-61 victory over New Mexico Highlands, Skyhawks women's basketball team pushes their win streak to 14 games, and certainly looks like the fifth best team in the nation.
With a solid team effort, the Skyhawks continue their dominance within conference play, remaining unbeaten at 10-0 in RMAC play. Four Skyhawks posted double digit scoring in the game, with Lauren McCulloch and Dana Schreibvogel putting up nine more points a piece.
As soon as tip off in Las Vegas, New Mexico, the Skyhawks took control of the game, scoring the contests first point of the game by a jump shot by Audrey George and never relinquished the lead. The game began with a 13-0 run by the Skyhawks, who never led by any less than 10 points from that point on.
In fact the Skyhawks were seemingly able to score at will on Friday night, pushing the lead to 39 points with just over ten minutes to go in the second half.
The Skyhawks were 26 of 57 shooting from the floor; while the Cowgirls struggled to find the net, shooting 19 of 56 in the game. The most telling stat of the game was rebounding; with Fort Lewis grabbing 50 boards compared to New Mexico Highlands 30 rebounds.
The Skyhawks do remain unbeaten in conference play after this game, while Cowgirls do the opposite and loose their 10th RMAC game of the season. Fort Lewis improves to 17-1 overall, ranked number five in the nation according to the coaches poll.
The fifth ranked Skyhawks will travel to Pueblo to take on their closest RMAC West rival CSU Pueblo tonight with a 6pm tip off.
