Durango, CO - February 16, 2009 - Skyler the Skyhawk debuted his name during the Men's and Women's Basketball games on Saturday February 14^th, while hundreds of fans cheered on the announcement.

Skyler, the new name was voted on by FLC students and faculty and also surrounding Durango communities. The "Name the Skyhawk" contest was started a few weeks ago supported by the ASFLC (Associated Students of Fort Lewis College). Hundreds of requests were entered, and then names were narrowed throughout the weeks.
