Fort Lewis lacrosse concludes season against Colorado College

Skyhawks cannot find offense in 14-1 loss to Tigers

Fort Lewis' newest varsity sport wrapped up their first regular season at home, with a 14-1 loss to Colorado College.
The Skyhawk women's lacrosse team could not find their offense on Sunday afternoon, and Colorado College kept possession of the ball for the vast majority of the contest. The lone goal for Fort Lewis came from midfielder Stephani Pitts in the second half, but at that point the game had already become a 10-0 blowout for the Tigers.
What was seen throughout the game was the dedication of the women on the lacrosse team, playing hard until the final second of the contest.
What is seen beyond the score of the game is the much improved play of the Skyhawk defense from the beginning of the season to this point in the year. In the first three games of the season, Fort Lewis gave up 18, 23, and 18 goals respectively. In the final two games of the season, the Skyhawks gave up just 16 and 14 goals each game.
Fort Lewis concludes the season with an 0-8 record, though the record does not show the improvement the program has attained through the year will pay dividends in the seasons to come.
