Adams State sweeps Fort Lewis in regular season volleyball finale

Skyhawks to face Nebraska-Kearney in RMAC quarterfinals

Box Score

ALAMOSA, Colo. — Sophomore outside hitter Dominique Davis recorded 17 kills to lead Adams State to a three-set sweep over Fort Lewis Saturday night at Plachy Hall, winning 25-19, 25-21, 25-23.

The Grizzlies finished their season with 9-17 overall and 6-12 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference records.

The Skyhawks (15-11 overall, 9-9 RMAC) would up in third place in the RMAC West Division and eighth overall in the conference standings. FLC will face 2010 RMAC champion Nebraska-Kearney (26-4, 17-1) in the league championship quarterfinals at 6 p.m. (MST) Thursday at the Health & Sport Center in Kearney.

“Adams State came out with a lot of energy tonight,” said seventh-year head coach Shelly Aaland following the match.

The Grizzlies' emotion may have been in part due to their celebration of senior night. Outside hitter Tamara Fowler, setter Mary McNeil and right side hitter/middle blocker Kelsey Miller were recognized before the match — the final one in their collegiate careers.

The Skyhawks were led by outside hitters Jessica Wilson and Chelsea Flaming, who had 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Libero Jenna Kinzer notched a game-high 15 digs.
