GOLDEN, Colo. — No. 24 Colorado Mines (15-5 overall, 9-2 in the
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) swept Fort Lewis (5-14, 2-9) tonight 25-15, 25-10, 25-17 tonight at Lockridge Arena.
The Orediggers' Jackie Stabill had 14 kills in 18 attempts with no errors for a blistering .778 hitting efficiency. CSM's Amanda Massey, a two-time AVCA national Player of the Week had 42 assists in three sets. As a team, Mines hit a .451.
“They're a very talented, well-organized team,” said eighth-year FLC head coach Shelly Aaland. “They were too much for us. I can see how they were able to beat so many ranked teams this year. Any time we're able to play high-quality teams, it gives us a great opportunity to gain experience for the future.”
Ashley Wells led the Skyhawks with eight kills.
Taylor Frederking had six kills, three blocks, and a .357. Libero
Hannah Starbuck added 10 digs.
Fort Lewis concludes its three-game road trip at No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney (20-1, 10-1) at 6 p.m. (MST) tomorrow.
