Box Score

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Dana Schreibvogel scored 16 points to lead No. 6 Fort Lewis (2-0 overall) to a 68-54 win at Point Loma Nazarene (4-2) yesterday.

“That's a really good win for us,” said seventh-year FLC head coach Mark Kellogg. “We were really much better defensively. We really got after it, to hold them to 54 points. That's a really good team. They were 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 in the post and had one of the better point guards we'll play all year.”

Schreibvogel, a preseason All-American, went 7-for-15 from the field and added nine rebounds as the Skyhawks began their three-game road trip to southern California.

Kellogg's bench also came up big, as Erika Richards had 15 points and Jamie Simmons added 10.

“Erika was really good off the bench and Jamie got going, too,” said Kellogg.

Fort Lewis outrebounded Point Loma 46-36. Mary Rose Paiz led the way with 13 caroms, including 11 on the defensive end.

“Mary was great on the boards,” said Kellogg.

The Skyhawks led 41-31 at the half. The Skyhawks limited Point Loma to just 29.5 percent shooting from the field (18 of 61) and 26.7 percent from three-point range (four of 15).

Fort Lewis continues its road trip with a pair of games at the UC-San Diego Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Skyhawks face California State-San Bernardino at 6 p.m. (MST) Friday and No. 13 UC-San Diego at 8 p.m. (MST) Saturday.

“We'll see what we're made of,” Kellogg said of the coming games.
