ALAMOSA, Colo. — Dana Schreibvogel scored 24 points to lead No. 7 Fort Lewis (6-1 overall, 3-0 in the
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) to a 74-45 win over Adams State (2-6, 1-2) last night at Plachy Hall.
Schreibvogel went 9-of-17 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and also sank all four of her free throw attempts to become the 11th player in FLC women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points.
Schreibvogel's trey 1:57 into the game gave the Skyhawks a 7-4 lead that they'd never relinquish. Fort Lewis owned a 38-28 lead at intermission and never looked back, outscoring the Grizzlies 36-17 in the second stanza.
The Preseason RMAC Player of the Year, Schreibvogel added four rebounds, three steals, and two assists in the victory.
Jenna Santistevan was the only other FLC players to hit double figures, scoring 10 points while grabbing eight rebounds and notching four blocks, one steal, and one assist.
Point guards
Alex Easterbrook and
Katerina Garcia combined for 11 assists and seven steals as the Skyhawks forced 35 turnovers and distributed 24 helpers.
Adams State was led by 10-point performances from Caitlin Boal and Jamonica Hudgins.
Fort Lewis hits the road again next weekend, when it travels to Colorado Mesa (6-2, 4-0) at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Western State (5-5, 4-0) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
