Fort Lewis volleyball takes care of Bacone in less than an hour

Skyhawks open season with 25-10, 25-14, 25-9 win

GOODWELL, Okla. — It took 58 minutes for the Fort Lewis College volleyball team (1-0 overall) to net its first win of 2012. The Skyhawks defeated Bacone (Okla.) in straight sets, 25-10, 25-14, 25-9 this morning to open the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies Challenge at Oscar Williams Fieldhouse.

“It's a great way to start the season,” said ninth-year FLC head coach Shelly Aaland. “The discipline and execution we showed is a direct correlation to the effort we put in last spring and this preseason.”

Aaland used a dozen players in the match. True freshmen Ashley Ellis, Lindley Gallegos, and Alexa Moser and redshirt freshman Shelby Lehman all made their collegiate debuts.

Complete team and individual statistics for the match were unavailable.
