Box Score LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A four match winning streak was snapped Friday night in Lakewood, Colo. when Colorado Christian handed the Fort Lewis College volleyball team a 3-0 setback from the CCU Event Center.
The Skyhawks, who rattled off four straight match wins in the past two weeks, fall to 5-12 overall and 5-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. CCU (12-8, 6-4 RMAC) won by set scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-10.
The Cougars dominated the net offensively and held the Skyhawks to a .049 hitting percentage. CCU notched 50 kills and hit .311, while the Skyhawks tallied 20 kills on 102 attempts.
Ashley Wells recorded a team high seven kills. She combined with
Jenna Kinzer to post 25 of the Skyhawks 38 digs. All 19 of the Skyhawks set assists came from
Heather Danny. Danny also added three digs and a block assist.
Kristin Stephan was solid at the net defensively, recording five of the Skyhawks 14 block assists.
Three Cougars tallied 12 or more kills in the match, including Taylor Sturms who posted 14 kills.
The Skyhawks will play at Colorado Mines tomorrow night for a 5 p.m. match.
