Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. – The 18
th ranked team in the nation handed the Fort Lewis College volleyball team a 3-0 loss Saturday evening in Golden, Colo. Colorado School of Mines won all three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-18.
The Skyhawks were led by
Hannah Starbuck who posted seven kills and hit .333 at the net.
Heather Danny contributed 12 of the Skyhawks 22 set assists. She also added one kill, two digs and two block assists.
Jenna Kinzer posted a team high 10 kills to lead the Skyhawks defensive corp.
Fort Lewis compiled 25 kills on 90 attempts (15 errors) to hit .111 as a team. They totaled eight team blocks and 31 defensive digs.
Three Orediggers recorded double digit kills, led by Melanie Wannamaker with 14, Alanna Winfield with 12 and Sarah Pekarek with 11. Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood posted a match high 35 assists, while Wannamaker assisted on four blocks and added one solo block.
The loss drops the Skyhawks to 5-13 overall and 5-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Fort Lewis will return home Oct. 24-26 to play host to UC-Colorado Springs, Metro State and Regis University, respectively.
