Kniffen Scores Lone Goal in Skyhawks 1-0 Win at Colorado Mesa

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Ashley Kniffen scored her first goal of the season Friday afternoon at Colorado Mesa University, lifting the Skyhawks to a 1-0 win over the Mavericks.
 
Sam Weiss' shot hit the post that Kniffen rebounded for the score.  The Skyhawks goal came in the 34th minute.
 
Fort Lewis (14-3-0, 10-3 RMAC) notched eight shots in the first half and six in the second half to double up the Mavericks (6-11, 5-8 RMAC) seven shots.  Six of the Skyhawks eight shots were on goal.
 
Caitlyn Espinosa earned her 11th shutout of the season and 13th win in goal after making three saves. 
 
The Skyhawks will play their final game of the regular season this Sunday at home against Colorado Mines.  Fort Lewis, who will be facing the second ranked team in NCAA Division II, will honor their 11 seasons prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff.
