Ashley Wells recorded a season high 17 kills for a four-set match and hit .455 to help the Fort Lewis College volleyball team defeat Western State on the road, 3-1. Her 17 kills was a match high, as was her 22 digs.
The win snapped a two game losing streak for the Skyhawks and moved their record to 7-16 overall and 7-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Fort Lewis won by set scores of 25-21, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-14. The loss drops the Mountaineers to 1-22 overall and 0-15 in the league.
Heather Danny dished out 41 set assists for the Skyhawks and added five kills and nine digs.
The Skyhawks posted 55 kills and hit .197 as a team.
Kristin Stephan served up two of the Skyhawks five service aces.
Kelsie Dardis led the Mountaineers offense with 13 kills and a .320 hitting percentage. Allison Walker and Tepora Su'a combined for 42 of WSCU's 44 set assists.
The Skyhawks will play their final four matches of the regular season at home, beginning this Tuesday night against Colorado Mesa at 7 p.m.
