Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – The second ranked team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference defeated the Fort Lewis College volleyball team in three sets Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium, 3-0. The loss puts the Skyhawks overall record to 8-17 overall and 8-9 in the RMAC. The win for the Mustangs marked their fourth straight match win, and their 12 win in the last 14 matches as they improve to 21-5 overall and 13-4 in the league matches.
The Skyhawks struggled at the net offensively, committing 21 errors on 99 attempts (.081 hitting percentage) compared to their 29 kills.
Madi Bickle led the Skyhawks with 10 kills, three blocks and a .438 hitting percentage.
Heather Danny accounted for all 28 of the Skyhawks set assists. Ashely Wells was one kill shy of recording a double-double, as she posted nine kills and 10 digs.
Western New Mexico was led by Bobbi Bayer with 12 kills and Seluia Falealili with 10. Alyssa Meihack recorded 33 set assists and five digs.
Fort Lewis, ranked eighth in the conference standings, will play their final two regular season matches at home Nov. 15-16 against New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. in Whalen Gymnasium.
