Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College volleyball team doubled their set wins tonight in Pueblo, Colo., but ended up falling to CSU-Pueblo, 3-2 (26-24, 12-25, 16-25, 25-23, 5-15).
"We had huge contributions from our freshman," said Fort Lewis College head volleyball coach
Kelley Rifilato. "They had a great mental toughness. We were able to do different things tonight with our lineup. Our big thing is to get better, and we are getting better."
Junior
Ashley Wells (Grand Junction, Colo./Central HS) led the Skyhawks offensively and defensively with 12 kills, a .093 hitting percentage, and a team high 17 digs. Junior
Heather Danny (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva HS) and senior
Jenna Kinzer (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart HS) each contributed 12 digs in the match, with Danny adding 32 set assists.
CSU-Pueblo's Brianna Bryant led all players with 17 kills and a.412 hitting percentage. Bryant committed only three errors on 34 attempts. Kacy Griffin posted a match high 53 assists while Alex Sansavera added a match high 28 digs.
The Skyhawks will head to Las Vegas, N.M. to face the Cowgirls Saturday night. First serve goes out at 6 p.m.
