Mustangs Defeat Skyhawks in Volleyball, 3-0

Box Score SILVER CITY, N.M. – Western New Mexico University defeated Fort Lewis College in straight sets, 25-18, 25-18 and 25-20.  The Skyhawks, who have played 12 straight matches away from home, fall to 1-11 overall and 1-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The Mustangs improve to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in league matches.
 
Heather Danny was accountable for 27 of the Skyhawks 30 set assists.  As a team, Fort Lewis hit .062 at the net (31 kills, 23 errors, 129 attempts).  Jenna Kinzer dug up a team high 13 Mustang attacks. 
 
The Mustangs defense was solid as they blocked eight Skyhawks attacks and notched 64 digs.  Just as solid as the defense was the Mustangs offense.  WNMU hit a solid .324 in the first set before cooling off to hit .197 for the match (41 kills, 18 errors, 117 attempts).
 
Fort Lewis will play their first home matches of the season Oct. 4-5.  The Skyhawks will face Western State Friday night and Adams State on Saturday.  Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
